Maplewood is made from full-grain, natural Vachetta leather that matures beautifully, developing a warm, golden patina over time. Carefully handcrafted, this leather accepts its unique markings and color shifts as a testament to its authentic character, ensuring every folio or traveler's notebook is uniquely yours.

Cascade Design: Features vertical cascading pockets on the inner left-hand side, interior elastics for holding traveler's notebook style inserts, and a secretarial pocket on the right-hand side with a built in pen loop. All wrapped closed with an elastic on the spine.

Care: Condition it once or twice a year. Once if you live in a high humidity climate, and twice if the climate is dry. Our Leather Balm is a great choice!

How it ages

Here’s what you can expect from the Natural color option as it develops. Shown here is a Patina in the discontinued number 8 design, photographed at 20 months old. Originally a light beige, it has beautifully transformed into this warm caramel shade. Over time, it will continue to deepen and grow richer in color.

Level 3 — Standard Stuffable · 3–4 inserts

  • 2 · Slim Everyday — ideal for 2–3 inserts and a simple, graceful daily carry.
  • 3 · Standard Stuffable — designs with strap closures, happiest with 3–4 average inserts and a little room for dashboards.
  • 4 · High Capacity — Traveler’s Notebooks with elastic closures that love layered, “chunky” journaling setups.
  • 5 · Maximalist — trifolds and leather wrap styles for generous, overflowing notebooks and keepsakes.
Strap-closure designs are most content with three to four average inserts and a dashboard or two that do not exceed 1.25 inches or 2.7cm. The strap keeps everything neat and secure, but it does not stretch like elastic, so a moderate, tidy setup is ideal.
