The Austen Collection, formerly known as Mr. Darcy, is made from smooth, full-grain leather that is treated with natural oils and fats, then buffed to a beautiful luster. The name is inspired by Jane Austen and the colors after people and places from her great works.

For example, Jennifer explains:

“This leather is like I imagined Mr. Darcy in the novel. At first, he seems perfect and smooth. But when you get to know him, he’s sensitive -- so the things Elizabeth said left their mark on him. And that’s what makes you fall in love with him.”

Like its namesake, this leather is designed to show its history with pride as it collects unique markings through daily use. While we take the utmost care in the construction of each notebook, the leathers finish is so delicate, light surface markings may be present in the finished product. Firm at first, Austen notebooks will soften and patina over time.
